ABRSL End-Of-Year PlayOff Information
General Information: At the conclusion of the regular season, ALL teams from the 8u, 10u, 12u and 14/16u divisions will enter a single elimination playoff. Typically, each division is divided into two brackets for the playoffs, a Red Bracket and a Blue Bracket, except for the 8u division (see 8u exceptions below). Teams will be ranked (seeded) and placed into the appropriate bracket according to the amount of points they have earned throughout the regular season of play (see also ABRSL Points System tab on this website). To qualify for the playoffs, teams must play a minimum of ten (10) games over the course of the regular season. If at the end of the season two teams compile the same number of points at the end of the year, their bracket positioning will be determined by the following criteria (in this order) head-to-head results, win record and total runs allowed for the season. The winner and runner up teams from each bracket are awarded trophies.
8u exceptions:
Since regular season scores and standings are not kept in the 8u division, playoff seedings will be determined during the post season coaches meeting. Coaches will pick numbers to determine playoff seedings. In addition, there is no double bracket system for the 8u playoffs.
Umpires: A paid umpire will call each playoff game at the 10u, 12u and 14/16u level. Championship games will have two umpires. In the 8u division, playoff games preceding the final game will be umpired by a non-participant head coach. That is, an 8u coach whose team is not playing in that particular game. The championship game in the 8u division will have a paid umpire. In each case whenever an umpire is used the two participant teams will split the cost.
Dates: The dates for the 2010 playoffs are Monday June 14th through Friday June 18th.
